The North Atlantic Treaty Organization does not appear to consider global warming a security threat, Czech President Vaclav Klaus reported at The Heartland Institute’s Seventh International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC-7).
Klaus, who spoke at ICCC-7 after participating in talks with NATO leaders May 20–21 in Chicago, told ICCC-7 attendees, “I am glad to tell you that we did not discuss the global warming. It seems that NATO does not consider global warming to be a security threat.”
Klaus’s observations deflated global warming alarmists who often attempt to justify expensive and far-reaching action on global warming by linking it to alleged national security threats.
On a similar topic, Klaus observed that interest in and concern about global warming are waning in Europe.
“On Friday evening I attended a music festival in Prague and during the break I mentioned to a group of people that I [am going] to Chicago, among other things to speak at this conference. Their reaction was: ‘Global warming? Isn’t it already over? Does anybody care about it?’ That is how they see it. Maybe it is a European perspective.”
Klaus said it is very important for The Heartland Institute and its allies to keep reporting the truth about how global warming is not a crisis.
“Let me, therefore, start by thanking you for keeping the global warming issue alive. This is an important achievement in a moment when it has already become half-forgotten. It has not happened accidentally, it was and is planned. It is a part of a carefully prepared tactic of global warming alarmists how to – once and for all – win their case. In the past two decades, they tried to do the opposite. They wanted to be as loud as possible to arouse our fears. Now, when the whole issue becomes more and more suspicious, it is in their interest to stop any public discussion. This is the reason why they try to pretend that ‘the science is settled,’ that the debate is over. We should not let them do it.”

CIA WARNED THAT COOLING THREATENS NATIONAL SECURITY
The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency warned in 1974 that cooling temperatures would lead to drought, famine, and political unrest – the same threats that global warming alarmists now claim are caused by global warming. According to the CIA report, “Further analyses show that cooling impeded agricultural production, which brought about a series of serious social problems, including price inflation, then successively war outbreak, famine, and population decline successively.”

TIME MAGAZINE ADMITS GLOBAL WARMING FEARS OVERBLOWN
Global warming “is not even the biggest” environmental problem, the reliably alarmist Time magazine admits in a May 22 article. According to Time, a bigger problem is growing enough food to feed the human population. Considering that U.S. and global crop production records are set on a near yearly basis, that means global warming must not be much of a problem at all.

AUSSIES FACE FINES FOR TALKING ABOUT COSTS OF CARBON TAX
Freedom of speech does not apply to talking about the high costs of government programs to address global warming, Australian citizens are learning. According to the Daily Telegraph, restaurant and store owners could face fines exceeding $1 million if employees tell customers or other employees that carbon taxes are raising prices.

GLOBAL WARMING HELPS RARE BUTTERFLY
Global warming is making species extinction less likely in the case of the brown Argus butterfly. Scientists report global warming is assisting plant life that sustains the once-rare Argus butterfly, which is found in Britain. In just 25 years the butterfly has become quite common, alleviating concerns that the butterfly would require special protections to avoid extinction.

HOUSE VOTES TO END FUNDING FOR CLIMATE PROPAGANDA
The U.S. House of Representatives has voted to end funding for the National Science Foundation’s Climate Change Education Program. The program drew heavy criticism for being duplicative and overly alarmist.
