Greenpeace Co-founder Testifies There Is No Climate Crisis

Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore told the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works there is no scientific evidence that humans are the primary cause of recent global warming. Moore also noted global warming is occurring at a modest pace and does not seriously threaten human welfare regardless of its cause.

“There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years,” said Moore. “If there were such a proof, it would be written down for all to see. No actual proof, as it is understood in science, exists.”

“Today, we live in an unusually cold period in the history of life on Earth and there is no reason to believe that a warmer climate would be anything but beneficial for humans and the majority of other species,” Moore added.

After co-founding Greenpeace in 1971, Moore remained active with the environmental organization through 1986. Moore testified that after 15 years as a top Greenpeace official, he left the organization because it had become more motivated by leftist politics than environmentalism. Moore observed environmental activist groups’ focus on global warming issues since the late 1980s fits this disturbing trend, with political agendas rather than sound science driving global warming alarmism.

“After 15 years in the top committee I had to leave as Greenpeace took a sharp turn to the political left, and began to adopt policies that I could not accept from my scientific perspective,” he said. “Climate change was not an issue when I abandoned Greenpeace, but it certainly is now.”

ALARMISTS SHOOT SELVES IN FOOT PROTESTING KRAUTHAMMER

Global warming alarmists are shooting themselves in the foot by engaging in name-calling and seeking to censor Charles Krauthammer after he authored a Washington Post column presenting a laundry list of flaws in the alarmist global warming narrative. Krauthammer said he is neither a denier nor an alarmist and expressed concerns about carbon dioxide emissions. Nevertheless, he surgically debunked a long list of asserted global warming harms, challenging global warming activists to be more honest with the American people. Krauthammer also called on alarmists to respect the scientific method and counter skeptical scientists with scientific evidence rather than personal attacks.

As if to validate Krauthammer’s rebuke, alarmists immediately responded to Krauthammer’s scientific arguments and support of scientific debate with shrill personal attacks and calls for censorship. Time magazine senior Jeffrey Kluger published an article repeatedly calling Krauthammer an “unfrozen caveman,” even while Kluger failed to present any scientific evidence to challenge Krauthammer. Other global warming activists piled on the personal attacks, and prominent alarmist Brad Johnson claimed to have collected over 100,000 signatures from people calling on the Washington Post to censor global warming skeptics.

PERIOD OF NO GLOBAL WARMING ABOUT TO SURPASS PERIOD OF WARMING

The ongoing “pause” in global warming will soon be longer than the period of warming that preceded it, Heartland Institute Senior Fellow Peter Ferrara observed in Forbes.com. Even more troubling for global warming activists, Ferrara noted, “one-third of all CO2 added to the atmosphere since the industrial revolution occurring during this period,” yet temperatures have not risen at all.

NEW ALARMIST THEORY: WARMING SLOWDOWN IS A GIANT CONSPIRACY

More volcano activity, less solar activity, more atmospheric aerosols, El Niño patterns, and a variety of other factors are all working together to mask the rapid global warming that alarmist models predicted but is not occurring in the real world, claims a new article authored by NASA global warming alarmist Gavin Schmidt. The introduction to the paper actually uses a form of the word “conspiracy,” claiming “Climate models projected stronger warming over the past 15 years than has been seen in observations. Conspiring factors of errors in volcanic and solar inputs, representations of aerosols, and El Niño evolution, may explain most of the discrepancy.”

“Here we argue that a combination of factors, by coincidence, conspired to dampen warming trends in the real world after about 1992,” the paper continues.

WIND INDUSTRY PAPER SHOWS WIND POWER COMES AT A HIGH PRICE

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) published a paper illustrating nine of the 11 states with the most wind power generation have electricity prices rising at least four times as fast as the national average. For the only two leading wind power states without such skyrocketing prices, Oklahoma wind power generation occurs without the compulsion of a renewable power mandate and prices for all forms of electricity in Texas are rapidly declining in the wake of electricity deregulation. The AWEA paper presents a devastating blow to global warming activists who claim switching to renewable power is a cost-effective way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
