People who say they worry about global warming use more electricity than global warming skeptics, the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change reports. The findings undermine assertions by global warming alarmists that skeptics are harming the planet and motivated by self-interest.
Researchers with Loughborough University and Cambridge Architectural Research closely monitored 250 families’ electricity use for more than a year. The researchers surveyed participants on their views regarding global warming. “Taken all together, householders who strongly agreed they were not worried about climate change because it was too far in the future in fact used less electricity rather than more, counter to the hypothesis that households concerned about climate change use less electricity,” the researchers reported.
After being exposed for their own energy-use hypocrisy, global warming alarmists claimed the survey results justify alarmists’ claims that people should be forced to reduce energy use. For example, the alarmist UK Telegraph claimed, without any further explanation or justification, “The findings will strengthen the case of those who argue that more coercive methods are needed if people’s energy consumption is to be reduced.”
