MoveOn.org Displays Shocking Climate Hypocrisy at ALEC Conference

Published May 14, 2012

The liberal activist group MoveOn.org displayed shocking climate change hypocrisy at the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) Spring Task Force meeting last week in Charlotte, North Carolina. Renting a truck to drive the streets of Charlotte for at least two days displaying a banner critical of ALEC, MoveOn.org needlessly spewed substantial pollutants and greenhouse gases into the air.

Approximately 30 anti-free market activists gathered outside the Charlotte Westin hotel throughout the conference and held placards and banners denouncing ALEC. The protesters received widespread media coverage for themselves and the messages on their placards. Despite the availability and visibility of hand-held protest placards and banners, MoveOn.org decided to rent a truck, affix a banner blaming ALEC for the death of Trayvon Martin, and drive it back and forth in front of the Westin for at least two days. The truck appeared to run on conventional transportation fuel rather than natural gas, biofuels, or electric batteries.

MoveOn.org has been a vocal advocate of actions to reduce pollutants and greenhouse gases. The activist group has vociferously criticized fossil fuels and the people and organizations that do not actively strive to limit their usage.
