Pennsylvania State University Associate Professor of Environmental Ethics Donald Brown is accusing skeptics of “ethically abhorrent” behavior in the latest in a series of attack papers he is posting on the Penn State University Web site.
“The climate disinformation campaign can be understood as a movement of organizations and individuals that can be counted on to systematically attack mainstream climate change science in ways that radically depart from reasonable scientific skepticism,” writes Brown.
According to Brown, “ideologically based disinformation is ethically abhorrent particularly in regard to behaviors about which there is credible scientific support for the conclusion that human activities threaten life and the ecological systems on which life depend [sic].”
Brown claims “free speech is morally reprehensible if it deceives people about vitally important matters.”
Coming from the university that whitewashed the Jerry Sandusky and Michael Mann scandals, Donald Brown might want to direct some of his moral outrage internally.

OCEAN TEMPERATURES DEMONSTRATE PRIOR WARM PERIODS
Sea surface temperatures in the North Atlantic Ocean were warmer during the Little Ice Age and the Roman Climate Optimum than they are today, according to a newly published paper in Paleoceanography.

UPDATED ANTARCTIC DATA DEBUNK WARMING CLAIMS
Satellite temperature data support a recent study published in Journal of Climate reporting little or no Antarctic warming in recent years. The satellite data show cooling in the Antarctic interior, with some warming along the coasts. The Journal of Climate study similarly shows a mixture of warming and cooling regions with no strong overall trends.

PHIL JONES ADMITS TO ‘HIDING BEHIND’ TECHNICALITIES TO SUPPRESS DATA
Climategate 2 emails reveal University of East Anglia scientist Phil Jones admits he “hid behind” technicalities to reject requests to share temperature data used to compile global temperature reconstructions. Sound science, of course, requires the sharing of data, the testing of theories by third parties, and independent replication of results.

WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, FAKE AN ILLNESS Global warming alarmist Gabrielle Hegerl expresses regret to Phil Jones in a Climategate 2 email that she “managed to back myself into a debate after all” and asks Jones how she might get out of it. Admitting she does not know how to counter paleoclimatic evidence likely to be presented by climate realist Patrick Michaels, Hegerl asks, “should I just fall ill?” Hegerl, a professor at the University of Edinburgh, later cancelled out on the scheduled debate. Hegerl’s behavior leads one to wonder how much tolerance she has for students feigning illness to get out of one of her exams.

OPPOSITION TO GLOBAL WARMING LEGISLATION IS BIPARTISAN
Claire McCaskill, a Democratic U.S. Senator from Missouri, highlighted her opposition to global warming legislation in a recent interview with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. While McCaskill is one of many Democratic U.S. Senators and Representatives to oppose global warming legislation, her opposition is particularly noteworthy considering Missouri is not a top-tier source of carbon-based energy production.

NOAA DATA HIGHLIGHT DECLINE IN STRONG TORNADOES
The 2010 tornado season, powered by a strong La Niña, attracted tremendous media attention and gave alarmists a platform to claim global warming is causing an upsurge in extreme weather events such as tornadoes. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, however, has posted data showing the number of strong tornadoes has been steadily declining since the early 1970s.

SATELLITE DATA SHOW NO WARMING IN PAST DECADE
NASA satellite data show December 2011 temperatures were a mere 0.13 degrees Celsius above the 30-year running average. The running 13-month average shows absolutely no warming during the past decade.
