Resolution Seeks to Compel President Trump to Reverse His Decision to Withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accord
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL (May 2, 2019) – The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the Climate Action Now Act. The resolution, H.R. 9, was approved by a 231-190 vote with all House Democrats and three Republicans voting in favor and no Democrats voting against it.
The resolution would require President Trump to adhere to the Paris Climate Accord, implement President Obama’s plan of compliance, and prevent any funds being spent to continue the president’s plan of withdrawal. The Heartland Institute was among 18 free-market nonprofit groups that signed an April 30 letter to the House urging the rejection of H.R. 9.

“Barack Obama never submitted any component of the Paris Climate Accord to the U.S. Senate for treaty ratification because he knew there was no chance the Senate would approve it. Accordingly, it is not binding on President Trump or the American people.
