When Her Son’s School Didn’t Work, She Started a New One

When South Carolina mom Lisa Stevens learned her son just couldn’t thrive in his traditional public school, she started looking for options. She learned a group of citizens can start a public school called a charter school. So that’s what she and several others decided to do. 

“Every day is important,” Stevens says. “For somebody to tell me I needed to hold my nose and ignore three years of my child’s life, was just the ultimate fighting moment.”
