Global Warming Skeptics More Knowledgeable than Alarmists

Climate Change Weekly #52

Global warming alarmists often accuse skeptics of being “anti-science,” but a newly published peer-reviewed study finds skeptics are more scientifically knowledgeable than the alarmist name-callers.

The study, published Sunday in Nature Climate Change, documented that global warming skeptics scored better on a test of 22 scientific and statistical questions than people who are worried about global warming.

A team of researchers, led by a professor at Yale University, tested more than 1,500 U.S. adults on their scientific literacy and technical reasoning capacity, and then asked them to assign a numerical value to how concerned they are about climate change.

According to the study, “Members of the public with the highest degrees of scientific literacy and technical reasoning capacity were not the most concerned about climate change.”

“As respondents’ science literacy scores increased, their concern with climate change decreased,” observed the study, which was funded by the National Science Foundation.

It seems the media needs to reverse who it deems “anti-science” and “science deniers.”

NOAA DATA SHOW NO INCREASE IN TORNADOES

Federal government data show no increase in tornadoes in recent decades as the planet has warmed. According to the data, tornado activity has declined significantly during the past 40 years, contradicting alarmist assertions that global warming is causing more extreme weather events.

NO LINK BETWEEN GLOBAL WARMING AND SOUTHWEST U.S. DROUGHTS

Global warming models predict lower drought stress in the U.S. Southwest, which is consistent with real-world data showing global soil moisture has improved as the planet has warmed. While the U.S. Southwest has experienced above-average drought in recent years, a new study shows global warming is not to blame.

NEW STUDY CONTRADICTS IPCC ON CLOUDS

A newly published peer-reviewed study contradicts one of the key assumptions of alarmist computer models. Those models are programmed to assume that a cooling of the stratosphere is occurring as a result of clouds over the Earth’s poles trapping a significant amount of heat beneath the stratosphere. To the contrary, the new study finds clouds over the poles act to cool the stratosphere by adiabatic cooling rather than by trapping outgoing radiation.

ALARMIST SAYS HUMANS DO NOT DESERVE TO EXIST

Global warming alarmist David Appell is saying humans do not “deserve to exist” if we do not enact strict carbon dioxide restrictions.

Writes Appell on his blog, “If humans are really so stupid as to not take some drastic action by at least 2050, when total warming would be 3.0 degrees [Celsius] – if even after that we continue to burn fossil fuels at an ever-increasing rate, well then we are clearly too stupid to deserve to continue as a species, and the Universe would best be rid of us.”

NEXT IPCC REPORT TO ADDRESS GENDER INEQUALITY

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is digressing further from its asserted commitment to objective, rigorous science. In its latest such digression, IPCC has announced it will address various social justice issues in its next report, including “Inequalities, Gender, and Marginalized Populations.”
