CHICAGO, January 12, 2004 — Internationally renowned motivational speaker, scientist, and author Jay H. Lehr will address the Wheaton AM Rotary at a 7:00 a.m. breakfast meeting on Wednesday, February 11.
Lehr, who is Science Director for the Chicago-based Heartland Institute, will address the topic “Freedom vs. The Environment: A False Choice.”
Dr. Lehr has spoken before more than 1,000 audiences on topics ranging from global warming and biotechnology to nuclear energy and health and physical fitness. The author of more than 400 magazine and journal articles and 14 books, Lehr is editor of Rational Readings on Environmental Concerns, a 900-page textbook now in its third printing. He recently completed McGraw-Hill’s Handbook on Environmental Science, Health and Technology, a major and highly respected reference work.
In addition to his professional achievements, the 60-something Lehr has completed the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon Championship in Kona nine times; has more than 1,200 skydives to his credit; and recently attempted a rim-to-rim double hike across the Grand Canyon (and had to be airlifted out). Three weeks later, he succeeded in bicycling across the Rocky Mountains.
