The global warming of the past 100 years has done little to raise temperatures above unusually cool levels, scientists report in the peer-reviewed journal Science. The scientists report Pacific Ocean temperature reconstructions show temperatures remain cooler than those that predominated during most of the past several thousand years. The study also confirms the Holocene Climate Optimum (also known as the Holocene Thermal Maximum), the Medieval Warm Period, and the Little Ice Age were global events rather than isolated North Atlantic events as argued by global warming alarmists.
“We used high-resolution proxy records from sediment cores to extend these observations in the Pacific 10,000 years beyond the instrumental record,” the scientists explained. “We show that water masses linked to North Pacific and Antarctic intermediate waters were warmer by 2.1 ± 0.4°C and 1.5 ± 0.4°C, respectively, during the middle Holocene Thermal Maximum than over the past century. Both water masses were ~0.9°C warmer during the Medieval Warm period than during the Little Ice Age and ~0.65° warmer than in recent decades.”
The study also documents that any asserted deep ocean warming in recent years is a normal event during periods of warming.
“Although documented changes in global surface temperatures during the Holocene and Common era are relatively small, the concomitant changes in OHC [ocean heat content] are large,” the study found.

NUMBER OF SPECIES IS EXPANDING, NOT SHRINKING AS PLANET WARMS
Biodiversity is expanding as our planet warms, according to an article in the peer-reviewed journal Nature. Due to a variety of ways humans are influencing the environment, the number of species has grown during recent decades. The good news follows scientific studies finding global warming is expanding more species’ ranges toward the poles rather than contracting species’ ranges toward the equator.

NATURE ARTICLE CALLS OUT IPCC FOR LACK OF TRANSPARENCY
The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) refused to allow social scientists to observe and evaluate how IPCC authors drafted the panel’s findings, according to an article in the peer-reviewed journal Nature. Social scientists are interested in how IPCC deliberative processes function and how IPCC personnel work to ensure their own personal points of view do not affect objective scientific summaries. The refusal to allow the social scientists access to IPCC “came at a particularly sensitive time, when the panel was reviewing its procedures after an embarrassing mistake (regarding Himalayan glaciers) in the previous assessment, and following the ‘Climategate’ controversy,” Nature reported. Nature documented that even prominent alarmists such as Michael Oppenheimer and Naomi Oreskes support granting social scientists access to IPCC interactions and deliberations.

OBJECTIVE DATA CONTRADICT ALARMIST SEA LEVEL CLAIMS
Sea level relative to global coastlines is defying alarmist claims of accelerating sea-level rise, reports New Zealand scientist Vincent Gray. Objective measurements from coastal regions around the world show minimal or nonexistent sea-level rise, Gray reports, and the data are particularly reliable due to the recent installation of GPS leveling equipment on many sites. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA’S ASSERTED SOCIAL COST OF CARBON DEFIES SCIENCE
The Obama administration is inflating the asserted negative impacts of carbon dioxide emissions to justify ever-stricter restrictions, environmental scientist Chip Knappenberger reports in Investor’s Business Daily. “Since the war on global warming is a high priority within the Obama administration, finding ways to make the social cost of carbon appear to be as high as possible is the ongoing objective,” Knappenberger reports. Knappenberger documents many ways in which the Obama administration is putting its thumb on the scale in defiance of sound science.
