Americans lead the world in climate realism, according to polling results published by Ipsos MORI.
The pollsters asked more than 16,000 people from more than 20 different countries their opinions on various environmental issues. Two questions were climate-specific.
The first climate-specific question asked, “To what extent do you agree or disagree? The climate change we are currently seeing is a natural phenomenon that happens from time to time.” The United States and India had the largest percentage of respondents agreeing, each with 52 percent agreeing. In India, 42 percent disagreed, while only 35 percent of Americans disagreed.
The second climate-specific question asked, “To what extent do you agree or disagree? The climate change we are currently seeing is largely the result of human activity.” The United States had the smallest percentage of respondents agreeing, with 54 percent saying they agreed.
The survey results set off an onslaught of America-bashing by the political left, claiming climate science information campaigns by public policy organizations such as The Heartland Institute are undermining government efforts to build momentum for expensive, centralized global warming initiatives.

GLOBAL WARMING CONFERENCE CALLS FOR ABOLISHING CAPITALISM
A United Nations-affiliated global warming conference called for abolishing capitalism on a global scale, claiming individual economic freedom is responsible for an impending global warming crisis. Conference attendees, including “mainstream” environmental activist groups such as the World Wildlife Federation (WWF), issued a declaration praising former Venezuelan despot Hugo Chavez and claiming “structural causes of climate change are linked to the current capitalist hegemonic system.”

NO, GLOBAL WARMING DID NOT CAUSE CHICAGO’S SEWAGE OVERFLOWS
Global warming is not the reason Chicago’s 1800s-era sewer system occasionally floods people’s basements, despite Washington Post propaganda to the contrary. Instead, the culprits are the age of Chicago’s sewer system and the city’s tremendous population growth since the 1800s. The Washington Post published an article last week Wednesday morning highlighting the story of a Chicago woman whose basement flooded during a rainstorm. According to the Post, because flooding occurred and because global warming is occurring, global warming must be to blame for such unwelcome flooding. Historical accounts, however, show sewage overflows and flooding were rampant almost immediately after the sewage system was built. Moreover, nearby cities like Detroit have seen a dramatic decline in sewage overflow and flooding events.

GREENPEACE STAFF REVOLT AGAINST LEADERSHIP’S PROFLIGATE EMISSIONS
More than 40 Greenpeace staffers submitted a letter calling for the resignation or firing of Greenpeace International directors Pascal Husting and Kuni Naidoo after Husting publicly revealed he flies to and from work so he can live in Luxembourg while working at Greenpeace’s Amsterdam headquarters. Greenpeace staffers said they are embarrassed by Husting’s hypocritical lifestyle and they have been subjected to widespread scorn and ridicule as a result of Husting’s hypocrisy.

DATA SHOW MODEST DECLINE, NO INCREASE IN GLOBAL DROUGHT
A study in the peer-reviewed journal Nature documents no increase in global drought as Earth modestly warms. To the extent any long-term trend is evident, there has been a modest decline in global drought during the past 30 years. The data contradict assertions by global warming alarmists that global warming is to blame for those instances in which droughts still occur.

ANTARCTIC SEA ICE EXTENT SETS MORE RECORDS
Antarctic sea ice extent was higher last week Thursday than on any July 24 on record, NASA satellite instruments report. The record sea ice extent adds to dozens of Antarctic sea ice records already set in 2014.
